Illness unfortunately cut short the championship season for Dan Morton who following Round 9 at Speedway City was sitting eighth in points sitting marginally behind his young prodigy James McFadden.
The subsequent withdrawal from the series meant Morton would eventually finish the series in a lowly thirteenth position with two top ten placings from seven A-Main starts.
The highlight for Morton in the #78 Morvale Group / Precision Earthmoving Repairs Eagle was without doubt his performance amongst the masses at Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway in Round 6.
He timed fourth quick out of a staggering fifty-three cars and was bettered only by Robbie Farr, Jason Johnson and Garry Brazier.
He placed second in the second Vortex Wings Dash and finished the A-Main in a very strong ninth place.
Other highs for the series were second quick time to Trevor Green at Speedway City in the opening round of Speedweek.
In Round 7 at Hobart Morton was awarded the Hoosier Hard Charger award for passing 6 cars en-route to his other feature top ten finish after starting on the eighth row of the grid.
It was unfortunate for the principal of the Morton Motorsports team when the sickness struck as Morton has made the last seven A-Mains following his dreadful run at the Perth Motorplex in the opening two rounds.
The level of presentation from the Morton team is second to none and you cannot forget the striking black #Q78 with shiny chrome trimmings that rolled out onto the Motorplex back in November.
Dan Morton is a true professional on and off the race track and epitomises what Wanless World Series Sprintcars is all about.
